Having an assessment at HVE?

HVE Healthcare Assessments performs an average of 25,000 assessments per year. Our services are provided to both adults and children via a roster of over 800 qualified Healthcare Professionals across every discipline.

Our assessment services are available Monday to Saturday, but we can accommodate a Sunday appointment upon request, if available.

Assessments are generally conducted between the hours of 8 am to 5 pm. We can also accommodate requests for assessments outside these core hours, if available.

We can provide assessments in one of our four main offices in Ontario, our 24 regional centres, and a national network of over 500 satellite assessor locations across Canada.  Our goal is to minimize the amount of travel for you, so we will book the location that is most suitable for you.

We provide accommodation such as transportation (dependent upon your Insurer) and translation services for a broad range of languages.

It is important for you to have a clear understanding of what will take place during the course of your Independent Medical Assessment. HVE has taken great care to thoroughly screen all our Medical Professionals. All our Assessors adhere to HVE’s strict policies and procedures, as well, each Assessor is further governed by codes of conduct and standards associated with their individual Professional Colleges.

At the outset of your assessment, the Assessor will explain in detail what the purpose of your assessment is. As you are aware, this assessment was requested on behalf of your insurer or employer as a result of your accident. The Assessor will review the benefit(s) they are assessing. Remember this Assessor is not providing treatment, only an assessment for the purpose of preparing a report. You will be asked to provide both written and verbal consent to participate in the assessment and to release the subsequent report to HVE and your Insurer. Only once you have provided your consent will the assessment will continue.

While each individual assessment may vary slightly depending on the type of assessment being performed, each follows a similar protocol. You will be asked to provide a history which could include medical, physical, and/or your employment history. You will also be asked to provide details of your accident, and any symptoms as a result of the accident. Following this, you will participate in an examination and or/testing if applicable.

Please remember that you are permitted to ask questions at any point during your assessment. You are also permitted to take breaks if required. Always keep open lines of communication with your Assessor if anything makes you uncomfortable or causes pain.

Here is everything that you would need to know, from how to prepare for your Assessment, the Assessment Process and what you can expect after your Assessment.

If there is something specific you require for an assessment, please let us know and we will do our very best to accommodate your needs.
